Judge Colona was appointed associate circuit judge in October 2019. He
began his career in St. Louis as a civil litigator in 1994. Colona went on to practice criminal defense with The Stokely Group from 1999 - 2012 and then moved on to form the law firm of Colona & Gentle. Prior to his appointment, he served as an elected state representative for the City of St. Louis from 2008 to 2016. He was an appointed municipal judge for the City of Holts Summit and a municipal judge for the City of St. Louis.

Judge Colona currently serves on the Missouri Bar Board of Governors for District XI as the Diversity Representative for the Eastern District of Missouri. He is licensed to practice law in both Missouri and Illinois.

He graduated from Truman University in 1991 with a bachelor's degree in political science and a minor in music. He earned a juris doctor in 1994 from St. Louis University. He lives in south St. Louis with his husband Dennis.

All matters in Division 27 will be held in person unless the parties have secured leave of court to conduct the appearance virtually. To cancel or reschedule any matter, you must email courtroom clerk Christy Graves or call  314-622-4282 within two business days of scheduled hearing date. Before scheduling a case on this website, the attorney signing up the matter must consult and confirm the availability of all other attorneys on the case. After scheduling a case, the attorney signing up the matter MUST electronically file a Notice of Hearing within 24 hours of signing up said cause on this website. Failure to comply with ALL instructions listed above, will result in your matter being removed from the docket, and your case will not be heard.

  • Motions are heard Monday through Thursday starting at 10:30 a.m. and 11:30am.
  • Contested motions: Local Rule 33.5 must be observed, if applicable, or the motion may not be heard.
  • Movant's attorney shall schedule the motion on a day that is mutually convenient for the opposing party or parties unless circumstances establish good cause why that was not possible.
  • If available motion dockets are full, add-ons are permitted only by leave of court personally obtained.
  • Movant's attorney should notify the courtroom clerk by phone or email if a scheduled motion has been resolved or rescheduled.
